The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has swore in 1,702 youth
corps members for the Batch A stream II orientation course in Anambra.

The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mrs Blessing Iruma, who presented the corps members to Gov. Chukwuma
Soludo at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu on Tuesday,
said they comprised 770 males and 932 females.

Iruma, who described the youth corps members are “special”, expressed joy that they quickly adjusted to
camp environment and participated in all activities so far.

She said the NYSC members exhibited impressive discipline, and urged them to maintain the positive disposition.

She added that “it is essential to state that the orientation course which you have started is designed to give you an insight
into the operations of the scheme. It is equally meant to prepare you for a successful service year.

“Additionally, the orientation exercise will equip you with leadership, physical, mental training, as well as Skills Acquisition
and Entrepreneurship Development.”

In his address, Soludo said the state government had continued to provide welfare services which ensured youth corps members’
comfort while discharging their assigned responsibilities.

The governor, who was represented by Mr Patrick Aghamba, the Commissioner for Youth Development, said
the improved road infrastructure in the state ensured safety and security of all residents, including NYSC members.

He advised the corps members to be security conscious by being at the right place at the right time.

He said “we have successfully completed the construction of 250 kilometer road in just two years. The achievement is
a testament to our commitment to progress and growth in Anambra.

“First and foremost, these newly constructed roads provide enhanced accessibility and connectivity for you during the
service year. You will now have smoother and more convenient journeys to your places of primary assignment.

“Moreover, the improved road infrastructure ensures safety while carrying out your duties.

“Now that you are deployed to contribute your quota to the rapid development of the state, I assure you maximum security.
