Awosika Olayemi Josiah, the Nigerian singer popularly known as Fido, says he once earned close to N1 billion from music in a single month.

The ‘Joy Is Coming’ hitmaker opened up about his finances during a live session with popular content creator Shank.

When asked to name the single highest amount he’d ever earned in one month, the singer didn’t hesitate.

“Almost a billion naira,” he said in pidgin English. “Between spending and income, almost a billion naira.”

Fido gained mainstream recognition with his breakout single ‘Awolowo’ and began his career under Inner Circle Entertainment.

In 2025, his label Oosha Records announced a partnership with global music company EMPIRE, signaling a new phase in his career.

In March last year, the singer came under fire after accusing his former marketing company Inner Circle Entertainment of financial mismanagement.

In August 2025, the hitmaker also alleged that the label withheld 95% of the $20,000 advance for his hit single ‘Awolowo’, claiming he received only about N1.5 million.

However, in February, Fido apologised and admitted that the sudden rise to fame overwhelmed him. He noted that he was still figuring himself out while navigating the pressures of stardom.

He acknowledged making regrettable comments and decisions, attributing them to “ego, excitement and inexperience”, and stressed that they did not reflect the person he aspires to be.
