Omotoso Mukaila Ayinla, the Lagos-based singer better known as Senwele, has passed away.

The Kwara-born comic singer died on Friday night after complaining of discomfort in his body.

According to a source who spoke to TheCable Lifestyle on Saturday, Senwele had gone out with friends and family members on Friday evening.

The source revealed that after separating from the group, he complained of discomfort and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he died on the way.

Senwele was said to have had no prior medical complications before his demise.

“He only went to enjoy himself with his friends and some family members. They left the place together while he also went to his house,” the source said.

“The other relatives were yet to reach their destinations when they got a call that Mukaila was seeking somehow and they all rushed there to take him to the hospital. They were on their way to the hospital when he gave up the ghost.”

Senwele was famous for his satirical traditional dadakuada music style. Dadakuada is a form of Yoruba music that originated in Ilorin, Kwara state. The genre is commonly used in comically abusing people.

The singer used this genre to create comedic and thought-provoking songs that entertained and critiqued societal issues.

In the days leading up to his passing, Senwele had been active on social media. He recently posted on his Instagram story, saying he was “tested okay for the night”.

He also shared a video reminiscing about a past show he performed at one year ago. In another video shared on his social media pages three days ago, Senwele lamented the harsh economic situation in Nigeria.

He urged Nigerian citizens to make themselves happy despite their living conditions and tackled the federal government’s leadership for not doing enough.

Senwele was buried on Saturday morning, according to Islamic rites, at his family house in Kwara state.

A fidau prayer will be held for him on Monday.
