Davido has reacted to a counter affidavit filed by Sophia Momodu over their lingering child custody dispute.

Davido and Sophia have been in the news over the custody of Imade, their 9-year-old daughter.

The Afrobeats star filed a motion through his lawyers Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah at the Lagos high court on April 17, seeking the court’s order granting him “unfettered and unrestricted access” to Imade.

The singer said he has been responsible for Imade’s education, housing, transportation, living expenses, health care, and periodic travel.

He also alleged that Sophia has been causing him “emotional distress” with her “utopian” demands. He claimed she also once denied him access to their daughter for nearly two years.

In her response to the lawsuit, Sophia argued that she has never denied Davido access to their daughter.

She also claimed Davido “repeatedly threatened” to make her life “miserable” if she did not make herself “available to him sexually”.

In a recent court document, Sophia claimed that the singer “became suddenly interested” in Imade after the demise of Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Ifeanyi, Davido’s son with his wife Chioma, died in October 2022. He drowned in a pool at the singer’s Lagos home.

Sophia, in the court document, said ”the fact that the applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the Applicant”.

But in a recent post on social media, Davido explained that he is only requesting joint custody of Imade, “not sole access”.

He tackled Sophia for bringing up the death of Ifeanyi. The singer also appeared to back out of the child custody case, telling Sophia “you can have Imade”.

“All I ask for is joint custody!! And nothing else! But cus it’s ‘Davido’ yall wanna act like yall can’t read. Smh .. I’m off this! Yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you,” he wrote.

“Joint custody – Both parents will have access to the child. Sole custody – Only a single parent will have access to the child.

“You’re constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us everyday of our lives. Imade will grow up to see I fought for her as for now u can have her. P.S she won’t be a child forever.. enjoy Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”

Sophia earlier alleged that Davido once connived with his sisters to kidnap Imade.
