Popular singer, Wizkid, on Tuesday, fired back at Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, following a heated exchange on social media over the legacy of the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Wizkid, who reacted via his Instagram page, dismissed Seun’s comments in a terse post that quickly drew widespread reactions from fans and critics alike.
The exchange escalated after Seun Kuti accused the Grammy-winning artiste of clout-chasing and questioned his use of a tattoo bearing Fela Kuti’s image.
Seun claimed Wizkid was attempting to appropriate his father’s legacy, insisting there was a clear difference between inspiration and replacement.
He also urged Wizkid to remove the tattoo, adding that no member of the Kuti family recognised or rated him.
Joining the fray, Seun’s sister accused Wizkid of intolerance, alleging that while the singer was sensitive about comments directed at his own father, his fanbase frequently disparaged Fela Kuti.
The online spat has since polarised fans, with supporters of both artistes trading arguments across social media platforms.
As of press time, neither Wizkid nor Seun Kuti had indicated any intention to de-escalate the feud.
