Peller, the Nigerian TikToker, has lamented that the Lagos government asked him to “pay N36 million in taxes”.

In a recent TikTok live session with singer Peruzzi, Peller claimed officials from a task force informed him of the tax bill.

The 20-year-old content creator insisted that he cannot meet the demand, arguing that “I don’t have any money”.

“The task force said I should pay N36 million in tax. I swear to Almighty Allah, I don’t have anything. I only came into the limelight last year,” he said.

“Why should I pay N36 million? What does that even mean? I don’t have money. Why will the government take money from me when it has never given me anything since I started doing TikTok. Nobody has gifted me before.

“This is because of my interview on TVC, where I said I was making money on TikTok. I don’t make any money, it was packaging. I don’t make money from Nigeria, I make it from social media. I don’t work have any company.”

Peruzzi, however, urged the content creator to settle the bill to avoid legal trouble.

“Why haven’t you paid your taxes? As a Nigerian, you’re supposed to pay tax. The government doesn’t care whether you only came into the limelight last year,” Peruzzi told Peller.

“Do you know how much I pay in tax? I won’t mention it but it’s more than yours. You must pay it, if you don’t, you’ll be arrested.

“You’re making money and government is seeing all the people gifting you. You’ll explain at government’s office. You can plead but you must pay your tax.”

Born Habeeb Hamzat, Peller is an online streamer known for his sarcastic humour and laid-back approach to content creation.

On TikTok, he boasts over 11 million followers and more than 477 million likes, while his YouTube channel has 332,000 subscribers and nearly 12 million views.

Peller’s live sessions have featured several high-profile guests, including rapper Olamide, singer Peter ‘Mr P’ Okoye, and footballer Victor Boniface.
