The Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State says it has put machinery in place to end factionalisation by various aggrieved groups within the party in the state.

The Lagos LP Chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.

According to her, the party must be united to brighten its chances in future elections in the state and in the country.

“We are working on peace already.

“There is also a peace reconciliatory committee in place that is looking into these factions and groups within the party,” Ekong told NAN.

She said that the party was working to bring everyone on board.

The LP boss urged all the aggrieved party stakeholders to think of the party above any other interest.

NAN reports that there are some factional groups in the party laying claim to be leaders of the party in the state.

The crisis rocking the Labour Party has worsened in Lagos State with the emergence of a factional leader, Olumide Adesoyin, in July 2023.

The Adesoyin-led faction disowned the Ekong-led executive committee, which led the party into the 2023 general elections in the state.

Similarly, the chapter has another faction loyal to the former Lagos state chairman of LP, Prince Ifagbami Awamaridi. (NAN
