Tiv Group under the auspices of Kunav United Development Association ( KUDA) yesterday call for the Empowerment and Resettlements of all Internally Displaced People in the country as the farming season is returning, stressing that government of States like Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger and Zamfara should step up efforts to empower IDPs via skills acquisition.
Speaking at the maidan interactive session held yesterday in Kaduna, the President Kunav United Development Association (KUDA) Comrade Atule Emmanuel maintained that the essence for the session was unity amongst Tiv Community in Nigeria especially in KUDA so as ensure peace in the land. “We are specifically concerned about the high volume of Internally Displaced People in Northern Nigerian States of Benue, Kaduna, Plateau and others, the people needs resettlement in their ancestoral homes, they need empowerment and all of these can’t happen without Peace and Unity in the Land. ”
Comrade Atule who commended Benue State Governor Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia for the massive projects revealed that “we are starting up ICT centre to enable youth gain skills acquisition for empowerment. We call on governments of Benue and Kaduna States to sustain Peace in the land for Clementine business environment.”
Social Media Attacks on Leaders
Atule lampooned Youths using the social media to insult Nigerian leaders saying the erra of politics has ended. ” We now have a leader in the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia as Benue State Governor and Senator Uba Sani as Kaduna Governor” whether you are in APC or PDP we must support them to get it right. We must rally round them and support them, if we must criticize, it should be constructive”
Also speaking Comrade Chief Paul Shaapera Wachihi the president of Benue Community in Kaduna said Government must do more to resettle the IDPs and Empower them.” Look at Benue State as Food Basket of the nation but the basket is now empty, the people are displaced and the fertile land wasting away and that is telling on the food Security of the nation. The Government can involve the private sector, establish military out posts in sensitive areas to ensure safety”
On insecurity in Northern Nigeria, Chief James Wayo Traditional Head Kunav people of Vandeikya resident in Kaduna said that unity in the land is sacrosanct, the Governors of Benue and Kaduna States which are the worst hit by insecurity must sustain fight to stabilize the area for the effective utilization. Most villagers in the agrarian areas are displaced and this is not good for the food security and economy of a nation.
” KUDA has taken the lead in uniting the people and we call on all well meaning Nigerians to eschew bitterness of religion and tribalism for effective development.” Wayo added.
