…As Civil Service Redeploys Assembly Top Staff
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has resigned his position effective November 22, 2023.
This is as the Rivers State Civil Service, has redeployed the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emeka Amadi and his deputy, Mr. Calistus Ojirika as well as an Assistant Director in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Georgewill Otto.
Akawor, former Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, hails from Oyigbo local government area of the state, which is in Rivers South-East senatorial district, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara comes from.
The development followed his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Federal Commissioner representing Rivers State in the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
LEADERSHIP gathered that Akawor had already handed over to his deputy, Hon. Chukwuemeka Aaron, who hails from Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Civil Service, has redeployed the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emeka Amadi and his deputy, Mr. Calistus Ojirika as well as an Assistant Director in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Georgewill Otto.
A memo from the Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, dated November 20, 2023, redeployed Amadi and Ojirika, to the State Scholarship Board and the Readers Project respectively, while Otto was sent to the Rivers State Small Town and Rural Water Supply Agency.
The memo reads in part: “Senior Staff Posting”, Dr. Nwaeke listed those affected to include Mr. Emeka Amadi, Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly now deployed to Scholarship Board, Mr. Calistus Ojirika, deputy Clerk and Head of Legislative Department in the House of Assembly now posted to the Readers Project while Mr. Georgewill Otto an Assistant Director in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development is now moved to Rivers State Small Town and Rural Water Supply Agency.”
The memo stated that the posting takes immediate effect and further directed the affected officers to complete handover procedures to the most senior officers in their respective departments as their service records are expected to be moved to the offices of their new postings.
