My mum bought me my first equipment, says music producer Rexxie
Rexxie, the Nigerian music producer, says he has been arrested in Uganda.
The producer took to his Instagram page on Monday to reveal that he was being held by Ugandan immigration.
Rexxie described the arrest as “unfair” and called for help.
“I have been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help,” he wrote.
“This is so unfair! HELP HELP HELP!!! #UgandaFreeRexxie.”
He, however, did not disclose the reason for his arrest.
The incident comes a few days after he announced his engagement to Chisom, his long-time lover.
It also comes about two years after Omah Lay and Tems were arrested in Uganda.
The music stars were detained for performing at a concert that allegedly violated COVID-19 social distancing regulations at the time.
They were released after spending three nights in detention.
Rexxie, born Ezeh Chisom Faith, is renowned for creating the Zanku sound as well as producing Naira Marley’s ‘Soapy’ and ‘Tesumole’.
In 2021, he unveiled his debut album titled ‘A True Champion’.
He released his hit track ‘Abracadabra’, featuring Naira Marley and Skiibii, the following year.
The music producer also enlisted Wizkid for the remix of the song.
Rexxie became a Grammy-winning producer after ‘Twice As Tall’ by Burna Boy won the ‘Global Music Album’ category in 2021.
In 2022, he was recognised for his contribution to Angelique Kidjo’s hit track ‘Do Yourself’.
Last year, Rexxie recruited Sarkodie, Lojay, and Zlatan, among others, for his sophomore album ‘Big Time’.
