Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has announced the disbursement of N250 million grant for artisans across the state.

Mr Abiodun made the announcement at the 2025 International Community Day and World Trade Day celebration, held at the M.K.O. Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

He noted that the soft loan, tagged “Oko’wo Irinse Dapo”, aimed to boost small-scale businesses and ease economic hardship faced by residents.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasised that the grant was a demonstration of his administration’s service to residents.

He noted that the day highlighted the strength of communities, artisans’ creativity, and role of trades in building robust local economies.

Mr Abiodun added that it was a moment to reflect on the progress made, while renewing the commitment to improve the state as a whole.

“I want to enjoin the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grants which is meant to improve your work and collective economies of all,” he said.

Ademola Balogun, the state’s commissioner for community development, said the celebration was in consonance with global observance, dedicated to recognising the collective strength, resilience and ingenuity of communities in advancing grassroots development.

Mr Ademola commended community leaders and trade artisans for their support toward government initiatives through the judicious use of aids and grants.

“These grants are public funds, entrusted to our leaderships for the collective good. We expect timely project execution, transparent use of resources and strict adherence to approved specifications.”

Earlier, Adefemi Adetayo, chairman, Ogun State Community Development Council, appreciated the state government for its support.
