The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on Nigerian youths to align themselves with existing governance structures and actively support national security efforts across the country.

In a statement issued Monday by the NYCN National PRO, Benjamin Onileowo, the Council’s President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, and National Secretary, Comrade Gara Nongha, made the remarks during a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries in Abuja.

NYCN leaders also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting youth empowerment, employment creation, and agricultural development as key drivers of national progress.

In his remarks after the service, the NYCN President pledged to explore every available opportunity in both the public and private sectors for the benefit of Nigerian youths, while urging support for governments at all levels.

He stated, “I am committed to ensuring youth inclusiveness and development in key areas such as employment, agriculture, empowerment, and vocational skills training. These will be my main focus both in government and the private sector, as well as within our youth constituency, especially in promoting youth participation in agriculture.

“My goal this time around focuses on four key priorities: youth empowerment, employment, agriculture, and vocational skills training. This is my second time in office, and I aim to see millions of Nigerian youths actively engaged in these sectors.

“My advice to all Nigerian youths, across every level of government, is to align their activities with the structures of governance. At the federal level, youths should work with the federal government; at the state level, with their state governments; and at the local level, with their local government chairmen.

“By doing so, they can contribute meaningfully, especially by supporting security agencies to reduce crime in their communities. Thank you very much, and God bless you.”

In his remarks, the NYCN National Secretary assured that the Council’s leadership would uphold fairness to everyone and encouraged youths to remain committed and law-abiding.

He stated, “We are here today for Thanksgiving, which is highly significant to the Youth Council. As we all know, religion plays an essential role in our lives. Worshipping God is vital, and it is important to begin every endeavour in His name.

“Today marks the beginning of the National Youth Council’s second tenure, and we have chosen to start it in the name of God. We pray that He guides and blesses us throughout this journey. The Council has already visited both the Mosque and the Church to offer prayers.

“This gesture symbolizes unity and fairness among the two major faiths in Nigeria. The leadership of the Council is committed to ensuring inclusivity, fairness, and justice in all its activities, regardless of religion or background. Beyond fairness, our focus is on implementing impactful programmes for Nigerian youths. We are at the stage of rolling out our initiatives, and we want our actions to speak louder than promises.

“Our advice to all Nigerian youths is to remain steadfast, law-abiding, and supportive of the government of the day. The future of our nation depends on the choices we make today.”
