Let us stop pretending. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot become a truly formidable political force without Nasir El-Rufai. Nigerian politics is not built on mere slogans or party logos; it is built on influence, courage, strategy, and the ability to command attention across the country. Mallam El-Rufai represents all of that.
Love him or criticize him, one fact remains clear: Mallam is a political heavyweight whose presence instantly gives any movement credibility and momentum. Many politicians may join a party, but only a few have the capacity to redefine its national relevance. El-Rufai is one of those rare figures. In many ways, he stands today as the godfather of the ADC, the man whose political intellect and fearless voice could transform the party from a minor platform into a serious national contender. One would wonder how Nasir El-Rufai possesses all these qualities—strategy, courage, and political influence. The answer is simple: when you become a person of value, you attract value. Reasons like this is why the All Progressives Congress – APC can’t take their eyes off him.
Over the years, Mallam has built a reputation that commands attention across Nigeria’s political space, from his leadership in Kaduna State to his role in shaping national conversations. That is why his presence alone can redefine the future of platforms like the African Democratic Congress.
The federal government knows exactly how relevant he is in the political equation. When a man carries such influence especially across the northern political bloc and beyond—it is impossible for those in power not to take notice. That is why many Nigerians believe the attempts to sideline or detain him are not ordinary. His political weight alone makes him a figure that the establishment cannot comfortably ignore.
During his leadership in Kaduna State, Mallam demonstrated a level of boldness and reform-minded governance that defined his political brand. He has never been known to shy away from difficult decisions or controversial debates. That fearless disposition is exactly the kind of leadership that fuels political movements.
More importantly, Nigeria today appears to be drifting dangerously close to a one-party reality, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) consolidating more power as governors and political heavyweights continue to align with it. If this trend continues unchecked, the country risks weakening the very foundation of democratic competition.
This is why the ADC must think strategically about its future. If the party is truly serious about national relevance, it should explore every possible means to bring Mallam El-Rufai fully on board. His presence would not only energize the party’s structure but also signal to Nigerians that there is a credible alternative platform capable of challenging the dominant political establishment.
With Nasir El-Rufai firmly within its fold, the African Democratic Congress could very well emerge as the next strong political party in Nigeria’s future—a platform that balances power, strengthens democracy, and offers Nigerians a genuine political choice.
Until then, the message remains simple and audacious:
No Mallam, no ADC!
And yes, my name is ONONO and I write what I like!!
