The Nigerian Navy apprehended 10 individuals accused of vandalizing pipelines during an attempted crude theft in Lagos.

The arrest of the suspects took place on Sunday morning at the single point mooring buoy in Lagos. This facility is used by tankers to unload products that are later distributed to tank farms.

The suspects were apprehended in three speed boats, each containing more than 100 pieces of liter jerry cans equipped with hoses to siphon the product from the vessel.

The suspects were presented by Commander Kolawale Oguntuga at the NNS Beecroft Naval Base parade ground in Apapa, Lagos. They were subsequently handed over to Musa Jubril, the Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Jubril of the NSCDC expressed gratitude to the Navy for their commendable efforts and emphasized that the agency will work diligently to uncover the sponsors behind these thieves.
