The National Association of Nigerian Students in Ogun State has honoured businessman and youth advocate, Awesu Fawaz, with a Leadership and Public Service Recognition Award for his contributions to youth development and community growth.

The award was presented by the Ogun State Joint Campus Council of National Association of Nigerian Students through the Office of the General Secretary.

The student body said the honour recognised Fawaz’s dedication to public service, support for young people and commitment to governance that promotes educational advancement in the state.

According to the council, his leadership style, accessibility to youths and passion for community progress have continued to inspire students and emerging leaders across Ogun State.

The award was initially scheduled to be presented during an intellectual and leadership engagement programme titled, “The Effect of Student Leadership on Academic Stability and Campus Harmony in Our Tertiary Institutions.”

The event was held at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, and attracted students, union leaders, stakeholders and youth activists from across the state.

Speaking after receiving the award, Fawaz expressed appreciation to the leadership of the student body for finding him worthy of the honour.

He also urged Nigerian students to shun violence and other social vices capable of undermining academic stability and national development.

Fawaz said his decision to venture into the Arabian tea business in Abeokuta was inspired by modern hospitality trends in cities such as Abuja.

According to him, the initiative aims to replicate the urban relaxation culture obtainable in the nation’s capital.

“It is about bringing Abuja to Abeokuta. We are the first to kickstart this concept here in Ogun State,” he said.

The businessman further advised students and youths in the state to remain law-abiding and avoid being used as political tools.

He stressed that young people must channel their energy into productive ventures that will contribute to community and national development.
