Monalisa Stephen, the Nigerian actress and filmmaker popularly known as Gabacci, has been laid to rest in Lagos.

The 34-year-old film star died last week after complications from low blood sugar and internal bleeding, though her family has not officially confirmed the exact cause of death.

Footage from her funeral on Thursday shows loved ones gathered at a cemetery in the Yaba area of Lagos, paying their final respects.

The emotional videos capture friends and family mourning at her graveside.

Her epitaph honours her as “a gentle soul, a radiant light, who loved deeply, lived kindly, and left a mark that time can’t erase”. It concludes with the touching tribute: “Forever in our hearts”.

Gabacci was a vibrant force in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, excelling as a content creator, fashion designer, and filmmaker with over a decade of experience.

She produced the award-winning movie ‘Fatabulous’, which earned recognition at the Saskatchewan International Film Festival in Canada, including Best Cinematography and Best Actress.

Beyond her creative work, she was the founder of the LYF Movement, a community dedicated to supporting women and individuals struggling with depression, low self-esteem, and body image issues.
