Damilola Basirat Ayinde Marshal, the daughter of Fuji musician Kwam 1, has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos house of assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a post via Instagram, the lawyer and legislative aspirant shared a flyer announcing her bid to represent Surulere Constituency II — a seat currently held by Mosunmola Sangodara.
Introducing herself as a “woman of excellence and results,” Marshal said her 12-year legal career has equipped her with a deep understanding of governance and the needs of her community.
She also emphasised her connection with younger constituents, describing herself as a voice for the youth and calling for generational inclusion in leadership.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, is stepping forward to serve the Good people of Surulere Constituency 2, at the Lagos State House Of Assembly,” she wrote.
“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. For 12years, I have practiced as a Lawyer, and that experience has shaped my understanding of governance, Justice and the real needs of my people.
“With this background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the Voice of the Youths in the House.
“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now and that is why I decided to step forward. I listen to the youths because I am one of you, and I understand what we truly need.
“That is exactly why I’m here to SERVE. VOTE COMPETENCE. CHOOSE PROGRESS. It’s the youths’ turn!!”
Damilola earned her master of laws (LLM) degree from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and was called to the bar in 2015.
In 2024, she was appointed senior special assistant (SSA) on tourism to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Before her appointment, she served as the principal partner at Damilola Ayinde Marshal & Company, a Lagos-based law firm.
