The Coalition of Northern Groups Student’s Wing (SW-CNG) has called on the federal government to establish a mini military barracks that will provide adequate security coverage and 24/7 surveillance for Federal University, Gusau, and its host community.

They have also urged the government to mobilize all necessary resources and collaborate with relevant security agencies to rescue the abducted students without further delay.

In a statement issued by the group’s National Coordinator, Muhammad Bello Aliyu, on Sunday, the government is charged with constructing a perimeter fence to protect the University from unauthorized invasion and attacks.

He stated, “We also demand the deployment of adequate and well-equipped troops to the barracks.

“Similarly, we request the upgrade of the Police and NSCDC outpost to a Divisional Station with adequate personnel and sophisticated weapons to thwart attacks and prevent subsequent invasions.

“We call for training and the provision of adequate equipment for the University, enabling them to resist attacks,” he added.

Furthermore, “We urge the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to lend their voice to this cause and actively engage with the government to ensure that our educational institutions are safe for both students and staff.

“The safety of our students should be a top priority for all stakeholders in the education sector. We also call on state governments to collaborate with the federal government in devising strategies to safeguard our schools.”
