The Emir of Gurku, Jibrin Mohammed, and his wife were kidnapped by gunmen in Gurku, Karu LGA, Nasarawa state.
The Nasarawa State Police Command received a distress call on Sunday, 6th August. It was confirmed that the palace of Gurku Town located 10 kilometres from Mararaba main town in Karu Local Government Area was invaded by men suspected to be kidnappers.
After searching the surrounding bushes and mountains, the kidnappers could not be found. All efforts to get them back proved abortive.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Mohammed-Baba, dispatched more personnel from the tactical team and the anti-kidnapping unit and the Karu Area Command to the scene. He also assured that they are making efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the monarch and his wife.
