Groups passed vote of confidence on NNPCL’s Kyari for sterling leadership

A group comprising Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators, Civil Society Organizations, and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) has passed a vote of confidence on the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, for his exceptional leadership in the oil and gas sector.

The group announced this at a national conference themed “Improving Public Trust Between NNPCL and Civil Society Organizations, Bloggers, and the Public” held in Abuja on Monday.

In his keynote address, Dr. Stein Uguru, Director of BAVCCA, stated that Dr. Kyari’s tenure has been marked by strategic investments aimed at boosting Nigeria’s oil and gas production capacity and enhancing national development.

He emphasized that the NNPCL Group Managing Director’s efforts to transform the company into a more transparent and accountable entity are crucial for the nation’s progress.

Dr. Uguru,represented by Comrade Yakubu Gaida highlighted the increase in national crude oil reserves towards the 40,000 billion barrel target as a testament to Dr. Kyari’s focused and visionary leadership.

He also praised the NNPCL’s willingness to engage with community-based organizations in decision-making and project implementation, ensuring that initiatives are socially responsible and aligned with community needs.

Dr. Uguru stressed the importance of transparency and accountability for building trust between the NNPCL and the public.

He said “the need for regular updates, accessible information, and mechanisms to ensure actions are taken in the public interest. Civil society organizations, he added, play a crucial role in monitoring activities and providing checks and balances.”

Alhaji Muhammed Yusuf, President of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, expressed admiration for Dr. Kyari’s transformative leadership and his commitment to transparency and accountability.

He commended the NNPCL’s efforts to bring unprecedented openness to its operations, earning the trust of Nigerians and the international community.

On his part,Dr. Okpanachi Paul, Coordinator of the North Central Young Professionals Forum, praised Dr. Kyari’s commitment to human capital development in the region.

He highlighted the NNPCL’s recruitment of over a thousand graduate trainees, providing employment opportunities and skills development for the youth.
