…Swears in five commissioners

Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers state, has sworn in five commissioners, charging them to contribute effectively to the state’s development agenda.

The inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday at the executive council chambers of the government house in Port Harcourt.

The new commissioners are Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Amairigha Edward Hart.

Their appointments followed screening and confirmation by the Rivers state house of assembly.

Congratulating the appointees, Fubara said their clearance by the assembly after a “rigorous screening process” demonstrated their competence and readiness for service.

“Ordinarily, I should charge you on your responsibilities and how to operate, but that has been taken care of by the screening at the assembly,” the governor said.

He expressed confidence in their ability to perform their duties effectively.

Fubara urged the new commissioners to justify the confidence reposed in them and work diligently to accelerate development in the state.

The governor added that his administration expects excellent service from the new appointees as part of efforts to place the state on a faster path of growth and development.

Earlier, the Rivers assembly withheld the confirmation of four nominees — Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, Otonye Amachree, and Datonye Alasia.
