The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo, Asue Ighodalo, has welcomed the Appeal Court ruling on his candidacy.
On Friday, the appellate court in Abuja on Friday dismissed an appeal seeking to disqualify Ighodalo as the PDP governorship candidate.
Briefing journalists during a campaign rally in Uromi and Igueben said the court cases were distracting.
He called on his opponent in the PDP to join hands with him to deliver victory for the party in the September 21 governorship poll.
“We have our colleague who went to court. I would have preferred that we work together as one and that saddens me,” he said.
“I am just relieved because the court cases are distractions and they were affecting our campaigning processes. These kinds of problems within the party is not necessary.
“I am hoping that we come together and work as one strong indivisible party and team for the betterment of the good people of Edo State.”
The PDP candidate also decried the level of poverty experienced by Edo residents and Nigerians in general.
He also spoke of his plans to turn around the state’s GDP, and carry residents of Edo State into prosperity if voted into office.
