Esther ‘Sunshine’ Thomas, the late content creator, has been buried in Lagos.
Sunshine died on January 11, following medical issues that began in December 2025.
What was first thought to be a severe stomach ache was later diagnosed as a fibroid. According to her friend Chidera Madu, Sunshine was initially taken to Orchid General Hospital.
However, due to a nationwide doctors’ strike, she reportedly received only pain relief without a comprehensive diagnosis, necessitating a transfer to another facility on January 2 for proper treatment.
Following her death, friends and family appealed to the public for financial assistance to give the content creator a dignified burial.
Madu also recently shared the burial arrangements on Instagram.
The rites for the skit maker began at the Lagos Island General Hospital in Marina.
From there, her remains were transported to Atan Cemetery in Yaba for a 2pm interment, following a procession that began at 1pm.
A video was shared by Madu showing Sunshine’s body being taken from the morgue, with some undertakers being transported to the cemetery.
A clip was later posted from when the content creator’s family members arrived at the gravesite for the burial rites.
Another footage captured a cleric admonishing the family and colleagues to be of good courage as a farewell was bid to the content creator.
