Columbus Irisoanga, ‘Issakaba’ actor, is dead

Columbus Irisoanga, the ace Nigerian actor famous for his role in the 2001 film ‘Issakaba’, is dead.

Hilda Dokubo, his colleague, announced Irisoanga’s demise in a tribute post via Instagram on Thursday.

She expressed disbelief at the frequent passing of loved ones, questioning if “heaven could be running short on angels”.

Dokubo also described Irisoanga as an “angel” and mourned his passing as a significant blow to Rivers state actors.

“There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers State Nollywood,” she wrote.

“Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”

Irisoanga, who hailed from Okrika, Rivers played the powerful chief priest Igbudu in the 2001 Nollywood blockbuster movie ‘Isakaba’.

Beyond acting, he was also a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt. He taught acting to students in the Department of Theatre Arts.

Irisoanga obtained his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and academic degree (PhD) from the University of Port Harcourt.

He has received several recognition and accolades for his craft.

The cause and date of Irisoanga’s death are still unknown. His passing comes shortly after the death of actress Pat Ugwu.
