The online feud between May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, and Yinka Theisen, the former partner of Yul’s brother Linc Edochie, has escalated into a legal war.
The controversy began in June when Yinka posted May’s phone number on Instagram, accusing her of previously sharing her own contact details.
Though she did not specify the exact issue between them, her post sparked widespread criticism, with many condemning her for violating May’s privacy.
Earlier on Thursday, May, through her legal team Graylaw Partners, issued a formal cease-and-desist letter to Yinka.
The notice, dated August 19, 2025, accused Theisen of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and defamation through a series of social media posts.
The letter alleged that Theisen’s posts were more than just defamatory, constituting a “calculated assault” on May’s reputation that employed “ridicule, unwarranted and harmful behaviour” and even imperilled her safety through malicious threats and false allegations.
The letter alleged that Theisen’s posts were more than just defamatory, constituting a “calculated assault” on May’s reputation that employed “ridicule, unwarranted and harmful behaviour” and even imperilled her safety through malicious threats and false allegations.
It further claimed Theisen’s actions instigated third parties to amplify the damaging content, causing “severe and irreparable harm” to May’s personal reputation and business interests.
May’s lawyers made four key demands to be met within 48 hours — including demanding N500 million in damages.
“Accordingly, we hereby demand that you, within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt of this notice,” the letter reads in part.
“Cease and desist from making or publishing any further defamatory or malicious statements against our Client, whether directly or indirectly.
“Withdraw all posts or publications made by you, or caused to be made by you, concerning our Client on each and every medium used in perpetrating these defamatory and malicious acts.
“Issue a clear and public apology and publish a full retraction of every derogatory statement you have made against our Client on all platforms where such statements were made.
“Furthermore, you are hereby demanded to make payment of the sum of N500,000,000.00 (Five Hundred Million Naira) as damages for the malicious publications made against our client.”
Responding with counter-accusations, Yinka took to Facebook to brand May and her legal team as “clowns” while daring them to “bring it on”.
Theisen accused May of a severe violation of privacy, alleging that the publicly shared legal notice contained her private address.
She warned that May should be prepared for a “lifelong battle” while accusing her of “persistent bullying”.
“Once again May Yul Edochie has violated my privacy. Putting my address on social media where anyone can see? You think you are the only one that can file a law suit? Now be ready for a life long battle,” she wrote.
“I hope you are game. I am sick of your bullying. Enough is enough. You are NOT the first woman going through a divorce. It has been four years of noise! Enough of the attention seeking.”
She also declared that she would never issue an apology or pay the damages.
“Mary Yul Edochie (internet Queen) . You and May Nation need to apologize for what you did to me, my children and my place of employment,” she added.
“You and your bullies are cowards & you will never get an apology or a dime from me until hell freezes over. Clowns!”
May also issued a separate cease-and-desist notice to her former lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, whom she had previously retained for her divorce proceedings.
She accused him of similar offences and is seeking N1 billion in damages from him.
