Armed bandits attacked Unguwar Dogo, a village in Kunduru District, Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing two people and injuring another before escaping.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred on Monday, March 3, at about 9:30 p.m., when a large group of gunmen stormed the community, shooting indiscriminately.
“Upon receiving the distress call, troops quickly mobilized a patrol team and local vigilantes to respond,” an intelligence source said.
“Unfortunately, by the time security operatives arrived, the attackers had already killed two individuals and injured another before fleeing into the surrounding forest.” he said.
The victims were taken to General Hospital, Kankia, where the two deceased were confirmed dead, while the injured victim is receiving medical treatment.
Security forces are intensifying efforts to track down the assailants, with increased patrols and surveillance in the area to prevent further attacks.
