Arsenal have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze in a deal valued at around £60 million.
According to reports from The Athletic on Wednesday, the playmaker favours a move to Arsenal, with whom he started his youth career, despite North London rivals Tottenham having been in talks to sign him. The finalisation of the deal is expected after Palace’s Thursday match in the Conference League against Fredrikstad.
Manager Oliver Glasner mentioned on Wednesday that Eze is “committed to the team,” and the player is scheduled to undergo medicals shortly thereafter.
Negotiations between the clubs regarding a deal for Spurs to acquire Eze had reached an agreement after 10 days of discussions, according to sources, but it was not completed.
The Gunners’ offer came after attacker Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury.
Crystal Palace have greatly benefited from Eze’s time at the club since his move from Queens Park Rangers in 2020. He has scored a total of 40 goals across all competitions in 167 appearances.
He played a key role in helping his team secure silverware for the first time in the club’s 164-year history, notably in their 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
This win not only earned them the trophy but also secured a spot in European competitions, enabling them to triumph over Premier League champions Liverpool in a penalty shootout to clinch the FA Community Shield.
