The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed comments by Bolaji Abdullahi questioning the capacity of Hon. Nafiu Bala to pursue legal action against a coalition.
In a statement on Saturday, the party described Abdullahi’s remarks as “unfounded and misleading”, insisting that Bala had both the resilience and institutional backing to challenge any unjust act.
Christopher O. Okechukwu, ADC’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, said Abdullahi’s position reflected a “profound misunderstanding” of Bala’s track record and commitment to justice.
“Hon. Nafiu Bala is a distinguished member of our party. His commitment to justice and the rule of law is well documented,” Okechukwu said.
The party highlighted Bala’s legal battle during the 2023 election cycle, which he pursued up to the Supreme Court, as evidence of his determination and resilience.
ADC warned that dismissing Bala’s constitutional rights could set a dangerous precedent that undermines democracy and weakens citizens’ rights.
The statement further noted that Bala enjoys “substantial institutional support” and should not be underestimated.
“It is unwise to assume that Hon. Nafiu Bala lacks the resources to vigorously pursue this case,” Okechukwu added.
ADC urged Abdullahi and his associates to adopt a more constructive approach to political discourse, stressing that democracy thrives on respect and dialogue rather than disparagement.
The party reaffirmed its full support for Bala’s legal pursuit, describing him as a “formidable force” whose rights must be respected.
