The solution to Nigeria’s poor governance is not recycling the same old political class. At some point, we must be honest with ourselves, the so-called “experience” many of these leaders bring has produced little to no meaningful impact.
Perhaps it is time to try something different: a young president with a competent “WOMAN” as vice president which amounts to a deliberate shift in leadership style, energy, and perspective.
For too long, we’ve watched the same circle of aging politicians rotate power among themselves, while the country struggles under the weight of their decisions. If people like Ibrahim Babangida, Olusegun Obasanjo have stepped back from the stage, then maybe others should take the hint, because even in “retirement,” they are still somewhere behind the curtain, influencing the same system holding Nigeria down.
What we are seeing now feels less like leadership and more like a cycle driven by ego and vengeance, not vision or service.
Nigeria cannot keep moving forward by looking backward.
