Rema, the Afrobeats star, delivered an exhilarating performance at the US opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The singer performed ‘Goals’, one of the songs on the tournament’s official album, alongside Brazilian singer Anitta and South Korean artiste Lisa at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday.

The US is co-hosting the World Cup with Mexico and Canada.

Rema’s performance was at the US edition of the opening ceremony, which was held separately by each co-host. Burna Boy had performed alongside Shakira on Thursday during the Mexican version of the opening ceremony.

He also held their opening ceremony with Michael Bublé and Alanis Morisse performing at the Toronto Stadium.

At the US ceremony, Rema thrilled the crowd with his performance, appearing in an all-white hooded outfit that matched those of his fellow performers and dancers, who performed in front of a giant model of the World Cup trophy.

South African singer Tyla and American rapper Future also performed at the ceremony in the US

Davido also performed at the opening concert of the tournament’s countdown series, held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

During his performance, the singer wore a jacket adorned with 46 green lapels bearing the names of the 39 pupils and seven teachers recently kidnapped in Oyo state.

The back of the jacket carried the inscription, ‘Bring Them Home’.

The tournament, hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, kicked off on June 11, with 48 teams competing for the title.
