Dammy Twitch, the Nigerian video producer and director, has opened up about the painful loss of his father, which occurred while he was on the job.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Twitch recounted that he was directing a music video for singer Patoranking when he got the news of his dad’s death. He said that despite the emotional blow, he chose to stay and finish the shoot.
Twitch further shared that superstar Davido played a key role in supporting him during that difficult time. According to Twitch, Davido not only offered to cover the costs of the video but also went out of his way to travel by boat to the location just to be with him and the crew.
“I was shooting a video for Patoranking at the time and I just got a call that my dad had died, I told the artiste and one or two of my friends at the time, and they were even willing to pay the artiste’s his money back, so that I could go home….” he said.
“It was crazy, even David had to take his boat and come and meet me there, cos at the time, it was after the African tour obviously and we have gotten really close, he had already offered to pay for the video.”
Twitch also spoke about how he eventually won his mother’s support for his career. He explained that things shifted once he started earning and contributing financially to the family.
