Erling Haaland, the Manchester City centre-forward, has been confirmed as part of the cast of ViQueens, an animated movie.
The film producers announced the Norwegian footballer as a cast member in an Instagram post.
They revealed that Haaland would play a “legendary Viking” in the animated film.
“A modern Viking enters the ViQueens universe,” the post reads.
“From December 25, audiences will meet Haaland as the legendary Viking ‘Haaland’ in our new animated feature film ViQueens.
Solveig Langeland, managing director of Sola Media, the company handling worldwide sales of the movie, said Haaland’s introduction would bring an “exciting dimension” to the movie.
“His involvement brings another exciting dimension to a film that already combines international adventure, humour, and emotional storytelling in a way we believe will resonate with audiences everywhere,” he said.
Haaland will voice an animated version of himself — a Viking named Haaland — in the film.
The children’s tale, which will be released on Christmas Day, is set in a “world of fearless warrior girls, icy fjords, and Silk Road mythology.”
ViQueens will see Haaland join a star-studded cast that includes pop singer Rita Ora and actress Ella Purnell, who voice the lead characters Hedvig and Ingrid, respectively.
