The Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) has honoured Bolanle Austen-Peters with the Excellence in Cultural Innovation and Global Creative Industry Trailblazer Award.

The award was presented during an international roundtable on policy and governance reforms in Nigeria’s immigration and border management sector.

The event took place on April 23 at Legend Hotel Lagos Airport, Curio Collection by Hilton and was held in collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Speaking at the event, Sheriff Balogun, NACC national president, described the roundtable as a strategic platform for advancing governance reforms and cultural diplomacy.

He said recognising creatives like Austen-Peters reflects the chamber’s belief in culture as a tool for national development and global influence.

Austen-Peters, the founder of Terra Kulture and BAP Productions, was honoured for her contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry and for promoting African stories on the global stage.

In her remarks, Austen-Peters expressed appreciation for the award, noting that cultural innovation plays a key role in national development and soft power.

Also speaking, Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary at the ministry of interior, said Nigeria remains committed to strengthening border security while improving operational efficiency.

She highlighted the ongoing e-border security project, which she said has covered over 1,000 kilometres in its first phase, with a second phase already approved by the federal executive council.

The roundtable reinforced the link between effective border governance, economic growth, investment attraction, and cultural diplomacy.
