Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, an aspirant for the 2027 Lagos governorship election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, says he is intensifying consultations with leaders of the party ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
On Saturday, Jandor dismissed speculations suggesting that a preferred candidate within the party had been endorsed for the governorship race.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate said no such decision had been taken by the Lagos APC leadership.
Jandor, however, noted that if the party leadership opts for a consensus candidate, he “will fully align with that decision, irrespective of who emerges.”
The aspirant added that he remains actively engaged in the race, noting that he is strengthening his grassroots structures and consulting widely with party members across the state.
In a post shared on X on Wednesday, Jandor said he had commenced engagements with APC leaders in the state ahead of the party’s primaries.
“Earlier today, I returned to Lagos to commence consultations amongst party leaders and members alike as we approach our party primaries,” he wrote.
“We started with the Team Jagaban-Jandor 2027 endorsement programme, where the group unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu (Jagaban) and my humble self for the 2027 election.”
The governorship hopeful added that he had directed the group “to return home and begin consultations with all party members across the 377 wards in preparation for the primaries, barring any unforeseen circumstances.”
In a video attached to the post, individuals believed to be members of his support groups were seen marching along a road in Lagos, holding various campaign posters bearing his image and that of President Bola Tinubu.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos APC has yet to issue an official statement on the purported endorsement of a consensus candidate, with unconfirmed reports suggesting it could be Obafemi Hamzat, the current deputy governor of the state, or Akinwunmi Ambode, a former governor.
