The Ghanaian FA and Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, have parted ways barely three months before the 2026 World Cup.

The federation announced the coach’s exit in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement added that Addo’s replacement will be revealed in due course.

The decision came just a few hours after Ghana lost 2-1 to Germany in an international friendly in Stuttgart on Monday. Three days earlier, the team was thrashed 5-1 by Austria, also in an exhibition game in preparation for the World Cup.

The team also lost to both Korea and Japan in a couple of friendlies played in November 2025.

The Black Stars had also failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, which was held in Morocco.

Addo was in his second spell in charge of the team. He had previously managed the Stars in 2022 when they defeated Nigeria on away goals to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He led the team to the World Cup, where they exited the group stage with just one victory in three games.

The Black Stars will play Mexico and Wales in two more friendlies before facing England, Croatia and Panama in Group L of the World Cup starting in North America in June.
