Broda Shaggy Rushed To Hospital After Alleged On-Set Shooting

Nigerian comedian and content creator, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, has been hospitalised after allegedly sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge. A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment publicly on the matter, confirmed that the entertainer was injured during a skit production at the location.

Although the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, the source said Broda Shaggy was immediately rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos for initial medical attention.

“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury,” the source said.

“We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital.”

The source added that medical personnel administered first aid upon his arrival at the facility.

Further findings indicated that the comedian was later referred to Duchess Hospital, located in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is currently recovering.

Attempts to reach both hospitals through their social media platforms were unsuccessful due to unreachable phone numbers, while text messages sent as of the time of filing this report had yet to receive responses.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were alerted after the victim was brought to the hospital.

“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility,” she said.

“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy.

“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing.”

However, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident had not been officially reported to authorities in the state.

“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported,” he said.

Efforts to obtain comments from Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, were unsuccessful, as calls placed to his phone were not answered and a text message sent had yet to receive a response as of press time.
