Omah Lay, the Nigerian singer, has opened up about his recent relationship heartbreak, revealing that the romance lasted for two months.
Speaking at the listening party of ‘Clarity of Mind’, his forthcoming album, the songwriter recalled how intensely he feels when he falls in love.
He also revealed that the lady broke up with him during the last Grammy Awards ceremony when Justin Bieber was performing, describing it as an “embarrassing moment”.
Omah Lay pointed out that despite the relationship being just two months, he felt it was the right one and even planned to have a child with her.
“Every time I fall in love, I lose myself. While I was at the Grammy and Justin Bieber was performing, I was having a breakup and an embarrassing moment,” he said.
“While I was at the Grammys, I was not present because even before the show, I had already started having issues in my relationship. And this was only a two-month-old relationship. But I thought it was the right relationship and I was going to have a baby.”
The singer also revealed that the experience inspired his song ‘Don’t Love Me’, a track on the upcoming project.
He added that the song reflects his struggle with balancing love and personal fulfilment.
“I do not know how to do two things at a time. When I am into one thing, all of me is into that. So, I wasn’t even present at the Grammys. I didn’t even enjoy anything,” he added.
“So my song ‘Don’t Love Me’ is me saying girl, let us enjoy this moment, but as soon as I find another thing that gives me pleasure, I’m going to leave.”
