The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has extended the deadline date for the 2025/2026 application till February 27.
The 30-day extension was announced in a statement by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFund’s director of strategic communications.
NELFund said the extension will give applicants additional time to complete and submit their applications.
The statement added that NELFund will ensure that no eligible student is excluded due to timing constraints.
Akintunde Sawyerr, managing director of NELFund, also said the extension is about inclusivity to give eligible Nigerian student a fair opportunity.
“This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund,” he said.
The fund also encouraged prospective applicants to take advantage of the extended deadline and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before 27 February 2026.
Earlier, the NELFund roll out funds for 2025/2026 session to various universities including the Lagos State University (LASU) with N223 million, University of Lagos (UNILAG) got N1.33 billion, and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (N85 million).
According to its recent data, 940,396 students have benefitted from the loan since inception, while it has disbursed over N170 billion to beneficiaries.
