Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has launched a blistering attack on Grammy-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, over his tattoo of the late musician.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Seun Kuti accused Wizkid of disrespecting his father’s legacy and challenged him to remove the tattoo from his arm.
“Remove my father’s tattoo and replace it with your father’s head. If you can’t do that, you will never use your hands to do great things in life,” Seun said.
He further claimed that Wizkid was no longer respected by members of the Kuti family, accusing the singer of harbouring ill feelings despite publicly identifying with Fela’s image.
According to Seun, there is a clear difference between drawing inspiration from Fela’s work and attempting to replace him in Nigeria’s music history.
“You have Fela’s tattoo on your body, but you carry beef in your heart. Wizkid’s real dream is to replace Fela,” he added.
The outburst follows a heated online exchange between Seun Kuti and members of Wizkid’s fan base, popularly known as Wizkid FC, which began as social media banter before escalating into a full-blown feud.
