A civil society group, the Kano People’s Rights Alliance, has called for respect for due process as the Kano State Government continues its anti-corruption efforts.

The group, in a statement on Saturday by its chairman, Maikano Danlami, appealed to political leaders to allow statutory institutions to carry out their responsibilities without distraction.

Danlami said the alliance was concerned about public discourse surrounding ongoing reviews of government contracts, urging all stakeholders to avoid actions capable of undermining confidence in governance.

According to him, the focus should remain on strengthening transparency, accountability and public trust in state institutions.

He added that the alliance supported lawful investigations by relevant agencies, stressing that anti-corruption efforts must be guided strictly by the rule of law.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process in the management of public resources.

In a joint statement by the Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had directed appropriate agencies to carry out their duties in line with the law.

The statement said the administration remained resolute in promoting accountability and protecting the interests of the people of Kano State.

The group also urged residents to support initiatives aimed at good governance, noting that citizens’ engagement was vital to sustaining transparency.

It called on civil society organisations and the media to continue promoting accountability while ensuring responsible reporting in the public interest.
