Zainab Bakare, the Nollywood star, has responded to online critics who questioned the sincerity of her grief at the service of songs for her late colleague Allwell Ademola.

The criticism began on Thursday after videos from the solemn event were circulated online, with some commenters accusing Zainab of “acting for the camera”.

Responding via Instagram, the movie star condemned the remarks, promising to address the critics directly after Ademola has been laid to rest.

“Y’all coming for me and tagging me with your full chest that I was acting for the camera, I will hold till we bury her(late Allwell Ademola) before I give you a taste of your medicine,” she wrote.

She described the criticism as a “distasteful exploitation” of a tragedy, arguing that a time of mourning was the wrong moment for such attacks.

“Koni da fun yin!!! Y’all are using the death of a loved one to dish out your Oriburuku.😡😡We shall see!!!,” she added.

Allwell’s burial service was held at the Atan Cemetery in the Yaba area of Lagos on Friday.

Zainab shared a professionally close relationship with the late actress. She starred in Allwell’s 2017 film ‘False Flag’ and co-starred with her in popular Yoruba-language films on YouTube, including ‘Odere Mi’ and ‘Kikioré’.
