The immediate past Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello, has appealed to members of the State House of Assembly to rally behind the administration of his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.
The appeal was made during a meeting with a group of legislators at his Abuja residence on August 19, 2025, and captured in a 29-second video that has since circulated on social media.
The meeting included a newly elected lawmaker from the August 16 by-election.
In his address, Bello asked some of the legislators to sit on the floor as he spoke, emphasising the importance of unity.
Yahaya Bello stressed the need for the Assembly members to back initiatives brought before the Assembly by Governor Ododo’s administration.
“Sit down. So, are you going in there now… go and cooperate with the Speaker, other members of the House of Assembly of Kogi State, and be part of those that will support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in everything that comes to the Assembly,” Bello told the Assembly members.
Following his remarks, the lawmakers responded with a round of applause for the ex-governor.
