Davido, the award-winning Nigerian singer, has revealed his plan to expand his creative empire by investing in the movie industry.

In a recent interview on Darryl Vega TV, the ‘Be There Still’ hitmaker disclosed that he is set to produce multiple films and series this year.

The 32-year-old singer said he and his director Dami Twitch have ideas for films and series.

Davido cited the growth of the African movie industry as a reason for investing, stating he’ll “definitely be tapping into it”.

“I am actually investing in a couple of films this year, shout out to my director Dami Twitch. We have some ideas, movies that are coming in,” he said.

“Not only movies, series, because you know the film space in Africa right now is going bonkers, so I am definitely going to be tapping in. And I can act, I can act for real.”

While this marks a deeper dive into filmmaking, Davido is no stranger to the movie industry.

He previously made cameo appearances in Eddie Murphy’s ‘Coming 2 America’ (2021) and Toyin Abraham’s ‘Fate of Alakada’ (2020).

In 2023, the Afrobeats singer revealed he would soon release a docu-series on Netflix titled ‘David’, which would chronicle his life.

Born David Adeleke, Davido rose to fame in 2012 after releasing ‘Dami Duro,’ the second single from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.

Davido has delivered three other projects, including ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time‘ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).

He also recently put out ‘5ive’, his fifth studio album.
