Laff Ijuo, the Nigerian entertainer, has completed his attempt to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for longest stand-up comedy show.

The comedian, who began his attempt on February 14 at the Banex Mall in Lekki, Lagos, reached the 50-hour mark on Sunday.

Ijuo shared a video of the moment he completed his world record attempt on his Instagram page, showing fans jubilating as he entered the 50th hour.

The comedian earlier disclosed that he attempted the record to raise $1 million for the Talent City Naija (TCN) project.

He said the Talent City Naija is a hub where Nigeria’s most skilled and creative young talents can thrive.

“Talent City Naija is my vision to create a hub where Nigeria’s most skilful and creative young talents can thrive. It will be a space for them to live comfortably, work together, and showcase their crafts on a global stage,” the statement reads in part.

Ijuo also disclosed that he obtained formal approval from the GWR organisers before embarking on the attempt.

His achievement is now subject to verification and confirmation by the GWR.

The current record for the longest stand-up comedy show by an individual is 40 hours 8 minutes, achieved by American comedian David Scott on April 30, 2013.
