A senior member of the Sultanate Council in Sokoto, Dr. Muhammadu Jabbi Kilgori, has dismissed rumors circulating about the health of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.

Kilgori urged the public should disregard this story as it is not true.”

He assured the public that the reports are unfounded, describing them as “fake news” spread by “unscrupulous elements,”he told Daily Trust.

“The Sultan is hale and hearty,” Kilgori said over the phone, noting that he was currently with the Sultan.

“In fact, we just left Kaduna for Abuja, where the Sultan is attending another official engagement.

The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) also released a statement countering the rumors. MPAC affirmed that the Sultan is in good health and actively fulfilling his duties as a respected spiritual leader.

“We urge the public to disregard the malicious rumors and to remain vigilant in verifying news sources,” the organization stated.

“The Sultan’s leadership in promoting peace, unity, and Islamic values in Nigeria is invaluable, and we will not allow false information to tarnish his reputation.”

The Sokoto State Government previously addressed similar claims, refuting any suggestions of plans to dethrone the Sultan and reaffirming the stability of traditional leadership structures in the state.
