Deji Adeyanju, the human rights lawyer, has confirmed that Speed Darlington is being detained by the police in Abuja.

Darlington has been reported missing for three days, sparking widespread concern. A video also surfaced online showing an individual resembling the singer in handcuffs, suggesting arrest.

Adeyanju, via his social media page, disclosed that Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and then transferred to Abuja, where he has been detained.

The lawyer also revealed that the arrest stemmed from a formal complaint filed by Grammy winner Burna Boy.

“We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy we can confirm,” he wrote.

The activist, however, did not reveal details of the petition.

Darlington had taunted Burna Boy over his affiliation with the embattled US rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ who is facing multiple charges for sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

He also asked Burna Boy to explain how he got his Grammy award for his album ‘Twice As Tall’ — a project executive produced by Diddy. He claimed there was a sexual relationship between the duo.

“It wasn’t long after Burna Boy posted a photo of him and Diddy that he won a Grammy Award. Burna Boy, don’t be offended, but how many oils did Diddy use on you before they gave you the Grammy Award?” Darlington had asked.

Some social media users claimed Burna Boy may be involved in Darlington’s disappearance due to his cryptic tweet, “Who is missing?”.

Queen, Darlington’s mother, also begged Burna Boy to “tamper justice with mercy”.
