Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has resumed his official duties and issued several directives following his return to office. Shaibu’s reinstatement comes after a Federal High Court ruling that declared his office was never vacant.
In a video broadcast, Shaibu addressed his staff and the public, emphasizing the importance of compliance with the court’s decision.
“All staff members who have not yet resumed work since my reinstatement are hereby mandated to do so immediately or face consequences,” he stated.
The Deputy Governor also issued warnings to financial institutions, cautioning against unauthorized transactions.
“Any bank carrying out transactions with the Office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State without my express consent is doing so illegally,” Shaibu declared.
Addressing recent events, Shaibu expressed his condolences regarding the tragic death of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate.
SEVANEWS learned the incident occurred during Shaibu’s return to Edo State following the court judgment.
“I am deeply saddened by this loss of life,” Shaibu said,
He added, “I have been informed that some suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.”
Shaibu also revealed that he had formally requested Governor Godwin Obaseki’s approval to reinstate his aides.
“Upon my return to office, I submitted a formal request to the state governor for the reinstatement of my aides. As of now, I am still awaiting a response to this request,” he explained.
