The founder of the New Nigerians People’s Party (NNPP),
Dr Boniface Aniebonam, has clarified that there is no faction within the party.
During an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, he explained that the party is currently undergoing internal democratic processes.
Dr Aniebonam expressed his disappointment that the party has deviated from its original purpose of providing space and choice for ordinary Nigerians. He also mentioned that he has been criticized for allowing the involvement of Kwankwaso in the party.
“There is no faction in the New Nigerians People’s Party (NNPP). What we are experiencing is internal democracy,” clarified Dr Aniebonam. He founded the party in 2001 with the aim of creating a better Nigeria and giving a voice to ordinary citizens. However, he feels that the involvement of Kwankwaso and others has hindered the party’s original mission.
Regarding the party’s certificate, Dr Aniebonam confirmed that he possesses it. He criticized Kwankwaso for changing the party’s logo, considering it to be a self-destructive move. He also placed blame on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for accepting the logo change without verifying the original certificate.
Dr Aniebonam urged INEC to exercise caution and be meticulous in its actions, as Nigeria’s democracy greatly depends on it. He emphasized the need to create space for the younger generation to contribute and highlighted the failure of the older generation in serving the interests of Nigerians.
