The police in Borno State have detained 10 individuals on suspicion of murdering a police constable in Maiduguri.
On Tuesday, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Yusufu, held a press conference at the command headquarters where he presented the suspects to journalists.
During the conference, the commissioner revealed that the killing of the police constable occurred around 4:27 pm on Sunday, July 23, in the Artillery area of Maiduguri.
The suspects have been identified by police as;

-Aisha Musa (19)
-Abba Bala (20)
-Sunday Garba (21)
-David Paul (35)
-Mohammed Abubakar (19)
-Jude Eze (37)
-Amaechi Abdulsalam Afochibe (37)
-Nduibuse Nnaji (34)
The police constable, who was on leave and had returned home to Maiduguri, was stabbed in the back by his attackers with a sharp object.
According to Commissioner Yusufu, there was an argument between the constable and the suspects prior to the stabbing.
After receiving a distress call, the police patrol team responded and took the victim to the Maiduguri specialist hospital for treatment. However, the constable was later pronounced dead. The commissioner stated that an investigation will be conducted to ensure that the suspects are properly charged to court.
